Do you want to improve your environmental footprint?
At dnature we have a range of products that are kinder on the environment for a variety of different reasons. If your work involves cell counting, or PCR, you might be interested in the following:
These reagents, not only offer value for money, but can be sent (and stored on the bench) at room temperature. This means that we can send these items around the country without the need for dry ice and when the weather allows, without blue ice. Sometimes, when the temperature heats up, you may find we send it with a reusable ice brick wrapped in a wool liner and home compostable courier bag. This is because we can’t necessarily control where the item gets stored when it leaves dnature. More information on our range is here ……
At dnature we have worked hard to reduce the amount of dry ice that is needed for our high performance Quanta reagents. This means that if it doesn’t have cDNA or XLT in the product description, it can now be sent with ice bricks, wool & a compostable bag like our Solis BioDyne products. Quanta are working to move cDNA & XLT products to a more environmentally sustainable format and have launched the eQo 1-step Toughmix. This product is in a lypholised format which negates the need for dry ice while still maintaining its’ sensitivity for PCR work.
The Cell Drop from DeNovix is able to count cells without slides which means no plastic waste AND because it is fast & accurate, cells can be counted and assessed for viability in under 10 seconds! More about this award winning instrument here.
We have developed a simple recycling programme that guarantees that clean number 5 plastic is recycled and turned into reusable product through PackIt – a company in Dunedin that takes clean plastic to design & manufacture food products. While this plastic can be collected for recycling throughout New Zealand, we were clear that we wanted to ensure that as much of this plastic was reused in New Zealand with a company that was creating local jobs, rather than being sent overseas for processing……
Contact dnature for a courier to send used plastic to PackIt & we will pay the administration fee.
We welcome any feedback or ideas that you may have for reducing our environmental impact.
