We love bees at dnature.

We’re hobbyist beekeepers ourselves and, over the years, have been at the forefront of DNA diagnostics to test for the viruses, pathogens and bacteria that can affect bee health.  This work include developing a world-first swabbing method for American Foulbrood, (the Foster Method™).

Our research has led us to develop bee health diagnostics that are used to test the health of hives as well as developing test kits for large throughput laboratories.

Currently, we test for:

  • Nosema Duo (N. ceranae & N. apis)
  • Lotmaria Passim
  • ApiVirus Panel (Deformed Wing Virus, Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus, Acute Paralysis Virus, Kasmir Bee Virus, Israeli-associated Paralysis Virus, Black Queen Cell Virus & Lake Sinai Viruses (5)
  • American Foulbrood – conventional
  • American Foulbrood (using the Foster Method™ – swabs)
  • Varroa-Scan (mite resistance to Bayvoral & Apitraz)
