The Genomic DNA Purification Mini Kit (Blood/Cultured Cell) provides an efficient method for total DNA purification, including genomic DNA purification and mitochondrial DNA purification as well as virus DNA purification from whole blood, frozen blood, buffy coat, cultured animal/bacterial cells and fungus. It can be used for a range of other applications and – with John ignoring the title of ‘blood/cultured cell’ – is our ‘go-to’ kit at dnature for a new application (e.g. buccal swabs, wine bacteria). The only additional requirements may be pre-treatment reagents/methods for some material (e.g. lysozyme for bacteria, lyticase or similar for yeast). Personally we recommend bead-beating for all of these – esp fungi.
Applications
The purified DNA is typically in the size range of 20-30 Kb (depending on the pre-treatment) and is suitable for PCR, long PCR and real-time qPCR – as well as other enzymatic reactions.
