SUSTAINABILITY

Committed to the environment with no greenwashing

At dnature, we’ve always been concerned about the impact of our business on the environment, which is why, one of the first agencies that we acquired in 2010 was Solis BioDyne.  We liked this range of products because it worked well, and it could be couriered at room temperature.  Since then, we have always tried to reduce our impact on the planet, acknowledging that our industry uses a lot of plastic.  We are mindful of ‘green washing’ so we’re not going to say we have all the answers and are perfect but we are doing our best and we are always looking to see how we can improve.

Sustainability, to us, also means being involved in the community and supporting, where we can, causes that mean something to us.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE SMALL THINGS WE DO:
  • Measure the carbon emissions of our own laboratory and offset by donating to Trees that Count.  We have supported this organisation since July 2020.
  • Have created a unique, (and first to market) in-house recycling programme for our customers for clean grade 5 plastic that is recycled at Pack-it in Dunedin, New Zealand. We love this programme (read about it here) as it means plastic doesn’t get sent overseas.  Contact us to find out more.
  • Reduced our reliance on plastic poly bins by packing our blue ice products in cardboard boxes wrapped in wool insulation.  We have undertaken stability tests on our product range to ensure that as few of our products as possible are sent on dry ice in poly bins. All our other courier products can either be recycled or composted.
  • We try to reuse and/or recycle everything that comes into our lab.  That’s why sometimes the packaging material, that your order arrives in, might not be pristine.  We are also happy to accept back the ice bricks that we send.  Contact us, if you have a collection of ice bricks you don’t want or need.  We will arrange for them to be collected and will use them ourselves.

We also support House of Science, Trees that Count and Gumboot Day.

If you have any suggestions on how we can improve our commitment to sustainability, please get in touch.
